Invisible and unnoticed heat
grasps the narrow edge
of the open car window
and tries to shimmy out
in whole but manages only gasps
like a shipwrecked passenger
trapped in a cabin below
with an air pocket slowly
springing a leak until
the car door opens.
The boil of inside bursts outside
in a mirage of tsunamis
soon consumed by heat waves
rippling across the parking lot.
